The Finnish Ministry of Health called for the occasional consumption of meals in a standing position, as part of a campaign against lifestyle with too much seating activities.

In addition, the Finns are pointing to the fact that it is possible to read newspapers , drink coffee and watch television in a standing position.

Experts warn that too much seating is connected with muscular skeletal disorders, diseases of the heart, blood vessels and obesity.

The Ministry of Health says that people who sit for more than seven hours a day every additional hour per day of sitting linked to five per cent greater risk of death.
