High heels are present for over 300 years, and equally lasts the warning about the health risks that accompany them

Scientists from the University of Alabama have found that in the United States in last eleven years, were registered more than 123,000 injuries due to high heels, and patients were mostly between the ages of 20 and 40.

Journal of Foot and Ankle Injuries adds that it is a noticeable upward trend, but the most damage was recorded towards the end of the study period.

The most common injury (around 80%) were the sprains of the foot and ankle, and about 20% of injuries were related to the knees, torso, shoulders, head the neck. About a fifth of all injuries resulted with fractured bones.

Nearly half of the recorded injuries happened at home.

The researchers added that high heels are present for over 300 years, and equally lasts the warning about the health risks that accompany them.
