Physical activity is one of the keys to health; a recent study showed that inactivity is an important risk factor for developing diabetes.

The researchers from the University of Pittsburgh have equipped over two thousand respondents with devices and through 7 days were followed all their movements over a period of wakefulness.

After five years, the same group of people was contacted in order to verify whether any of them in the meantime, was diagnosed with diabetes.

It turned out that the participants in the study who were daily physically inactive for at least 10 hours had a nearly fourfold higher risk for diabetes than the participants who were physically inactive for less than 6 hours a day.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 1 in 10 adults worldwide have diabetes, according to trade journal Diabetes Car.
