Thickness Destroys Brain Skills

Excess weight which we accumulated in our youth later in life could harm not only our heart but also our brain, the researchers found.

The five-year study on 250 people aged between 60 and 70 years found that people with excess body fat have reduced brain capacity.

“We all know that obesity is bad for the heart, but this study shows that it is bad for the brain,” said spokesman for the British Association of Alzheimer’s disease.

Thickness destroys brain skills

There was a connection between obesity and dementia.

Specifically, it determined whether the thickness causes dementia, but raises blood pressure and cholesterol, which can be a risk factor for dementia.

Scientists from the University of Seoul, measured body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference to the respondents.

Then they were asked to answer 30 simple questions about arithmetic functions, memory and orientation.

Those with a high percentage of body fat had lower scores than the rest of their peers.

“Preventing obesity could be crucial in the prevention of cognitive decline or dementia,” said the study’s lead author Dae Hyun Yoon.
