St. John’s Wort oil is great for skin, heals wounds, burns, relieves pain and prevents inflammation. This oil also nourishes sensitive, dry skin, and can be used in low circulation.

The recipe for this magical oil is very simple and anyone can make it at home.

It is important to know that St. John’s wort blossoms are harvesting in the summer. You can found them in meadows, fields and marginal parts of the forest. It is easily recognized by its yellow flowers.

To prepare the oil you need a few bundles of plants. After dailing and binding them, leave them overnight outside the jar in order the insects left the flowers and plants to evaporate the juice which leads to deterioration of the plant.

Put the¬†bundles St. John’s Wort in a freshly washed glass jars and pour them with olive oil, which should also be homemade, cold pressed. Close the jars with lids or paper and a rubber band and let it stand in the sun on a warm place for 45 days. Oil should assume a characteristic reddish color. As much the oil is redder, its effects will be more effective. Shake the jar every day, and after 45 days strain the liquid through a plastic colander, and then through a thick linen cloth.

The resulting oil decants into glass bottles and stores them in the dark and cool place. Thus prepared, the oil can be used throughout the year, until the next harvest.

It is important to note that St. John’s Wort oil oil is not used as protection from harmful sun rays because it has a phototoxic effect and can cause changes to the skin. If you have suffered sunburn, lubricate it with St. John’s Wort oil until the redness does not pass thereby avoid the sun.
For treatment of burns instead of oil, you can use the balm of St. John’s Wort oil.

Balm is made from 1 oz¬†(30 grams) of St. John’s Wort oil 0.15 oz (4 grams) of beeswax (we recommend that you use a crude wax). Heat the ingredients on steam, after the wax has melted, pour balm into a smaller container in which it will cool off .
