Tomato-The Queen Of Mediterranean Diet Now Used For Reducing Blood Cholesterol

Considered as a queen of the Mediterranean diet, and is famous for the number of elements available to health: vitamins, potassium, phosphorus, beta-carotene, and a  pigment anti-carcinogen. But now the tomato is known with another feature too: protects against cholesterol.

The  researchers have studied the cases of 16 men and 5 women aged from 20 to 49 years, who had high cholesterol values. For almost the entire period that followed, scientists have conducted regular blood tests to measure cholesterol levels , all bad and the good cholesterol. At the end of the study, the results have been impressive even for scientists.

 

 

To all the volunteers, the overall cholesterol levels have dropped by 6% and bad cholesterol by 13%. What causes the tomato to be a good  anti-cholesterol vegetable is still unknown, but according to scientists, it is thought that the high number of antioxidant substances plays a key role, especially likopenit that gives tomato red color. But what is certain is the fact that people who suffer from cholesterol should not miss eating tomato, because it can really save your life.
